Ouarzazate gateway to the desert

Full day excursion from 7am to 7pm, meeting point near our Riad Tahani.

Ouarzazate is located 190 km from Marrakech crossing the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizine Tichka pass which offers us extraordinary landscapes, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a complex of clay and stone surrounded by walls with monumental gates.

We start our journey at Riad Laarous square very close to the Riad where our driver and guide will be waiting for us. The trip takes about 3 hours and we will cross the Atlas Mountains to reach Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. 

Before arriving we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a spectacular site that is worth a good stop.
This complex is one of the most beautiful places in the south of Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 
The beauty of the site has won over several film producers who have filmed several movies (the last one being Gladiator). 

In this area between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert, there are several sand kasbahs and small Berber villages that take advantage of the abundance of water from the Atlas Mountains for their modest crops and animals.

Once we arrive in Ouarzazate we can visit the cinema museum as well as the beautiful streets of the city. We will take the opportunity to have lunch in a typical Moroccan restaurant and enjoy dishes from the region; Tagine berbère or a desert couscous.

After our visits in the city, our guide will be waiting for us to return to Marrakech where we will arrive around 19h. 

Upon arrival, Asma will be waiting for us to serve us a mint tea with Moroccan pastries. Afterwards, we can relax by the pool or on the riad's terrace or stroll in the nearby souks where we will appreciate the charm of Marrakech and the Djeema el Fna square.
